Examinations
Mason Academy of Dance offer examinations with the International Dance Teachers' Association (IDTA) which is one of the largest examination boards.
The IDTA is an Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications Wales recognised awarding organisation and a member of the British Dance Council (BDC), Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET), Federation of Dance Awarding Bodies (FDAB), Sport & Recreation Alliance (SRA), Theatre Dance Council International (TDCI)
Examinations are optional, however we do encourage it as it helps the students progress and improves their physical and mental development as well as gaining self-confidence.
The criteria for taking an exam set out in the IDTA syllabi are not based on the length of time a student has attended class but on the consistency and application of effort and memory retention of the work required for each examination.
Students are assessed individually and will only be entered for examinations when the Principal feels they are fully prepared.
Once final examination entries have been sent to the examination board, fees are required to be paid in full by the examination date.
If parents wish pupils to take examinations then it is compulsory that all pupils attend exam classes regularly.
